The app is launched to coincide with the Casual Dining Show, held on 22nd and 23rd February at London BDC, where the Prep team will be demonstrating the online tools at Stand G21.
Developed by Prep’s oil management specialists who visit customers’ kitchens with their training and troubleshooting courses, the app shows users how to adopt industry-leading techniques to obtain the best possible performance from their frying oil.
The graphically based, animated app includes best oil management practices; advice on testing oil and learning when to change it; top 10 tips; and five training modules covering safety, quality, long life, the discard stage and equipment and efficiency.
A troubleshooting section addresses commonly reported issues with frying oil, such as smoking, foaming and discoloration, and includes a series of questions to identify the probable cause and offer a solution.
A quick and simple tool is also included to help users choose the oil that best suits their individual circumstances and usage. The app is designed to be easy to navigate and use, with a graphically-led interface and clear, simple language.Prep brand manager Olivia Shuttleworth says: “It’s an oil management training course in a handy app.
“All the knowledge, techniques and tips used by our oil management experts are now available at kitchen staff’s fingertips, ready to use whenever they’re needed.
“At Prep we pride ourselves on supplying good-quality, long-lasting oils for all kinds of catering settings, and also on helping customers to get the very best performance out of their oil, with fewer oil changes.
“Ultimately, Prep helps customers to save time and money and ensure great tasting and good looking food at every fry.”
