What is the RSPO and what does it mean for you?

Operators who understand the need to work responsibly have a head start when it comes to winning customers or contracts.

What is the RSPO and what does it mean for you?

Palm oil presents a challenge in foodservice. It’s a versatile oil that’s perfect for frying – but it has been linked with deforestation and human rights violations.

That’s where the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) comes in. The RSPO is a not-for-profit organisation that brings together all parties in the palm oil industry, from the farmers and producers to retailers, manufacturers and investors. RSPO certification is awarded to palm oil that has been produced in line with strict sustainability criteria.

All palm oil in Prep high performance frying oils is certified sustainable by the RSPO – it’s guaranteed to have been produced in line with rules that protect people, animals and the environment.

What does this mean for you?

If you use Prep, you’re covered. You’re free to state that your frying oil is certified sustainable – a real positive for your customers, whether they’re individuals, businesses or public sector bodies with stringent procurement criteria.

AAK, the business behind the Prep brand, is one of the founder members of the RSPO and was the first company to import segregated, RSPO-certified sustainable palm oil to the UK. Follow AAK’s progress at
