Up your vegan grab and go game

Busy lifestyles are dictating the way many people dine. Food to go is growing – and accounts for almost 25% of the total eating out market*, which is estimated to reach a value of £21.2bn this year.

Although speed and convenience are key, people aren’t willing to compromise on what they eat. They still expect high-quality, tasty food and choice, with dietary requirements, such as free-from and meat-free, well catered for.

Between 2016 and 2018, orders of takeaway vegan food increased by 388%, according to a report commissioned by the British Takeaway Campaign. This highlights a great opportunity for independent caterers that offer food to go to tap into a growing trend.

But how easy is it to create vegan dishes that can be delivered quickly? Having a kitchen centred around vegan ‘base’ ingredients is a good place to start – and speeds up the menu planning and creative process for chefs.

Our Unsalted Vegan Whirl, which is approved by the Vegan Society, makes life easier for caterers looking to create takeaway plant-based items. Get a head start with our ideas and recipes …
